Better contrast between the edge of the object and the background will result in a more accurate selection. The brush will attempt to find the edges of the object. You can set the initial brush size and then paint inside the shape of the object to begin selecting. Selection Brush The Selection brush will let you paint over an object to select it. Pressing the control key on your keyboard while clicking and dragging a new shape over the top of the previous selection will add the new shape to the active selection creating an irregular shape.įree Hand Selection Tool The Free Hand Selection tool allows you to draw around a section of the raster layer to make a selection. Pressing the option key on your keyboard while clicking and dragging a new shape over the top of the previous selection will subtract the new shape from the active selection creating an irregular shape. *NOTE* The active selection can be repositioned by moving your cursor over the shape, then clicking and dragging it to a new location. When a selection is made, you will see an outline of the shape commonly referred to as “marching ants”.
